Sport & Fun - Mountain Bike

Within the last few years a new sports category and therefore a new group of sporty people, the mountain-bikers, have now been added to the group of hikers. They all have something in common, namely,that they really love the mountains.

In fact, thanks to numerous passable paths, you have almost unlimited  opportunities to enjoy an outing in the mountains with your mountain-bike.

In S.Vigilio and its surroundings you will discover a lot of easy paths, and also paths of medium difficulty, but of course there are also plenty of long and difficult routes for the more advanced.

In order to respect nature and keep our landscape safe we find it useful and necessary to give some recommendations to the cyclists:

- where its possible cycle only on mountain roads and forest roads that are sufficiently large and safe 
- respect the right of way of any walkers
- be aware of your physical condition and of your technical expertise
- only use bicycles that are technically in order
- respect nature and do not pollute and litter
- respect the animals (animals on the pastures as well as wild animals)
- be prudent and careful when cycling downhill (helmet),
- respect all signs and "no entry" signs
- start your return trip at a decent time
- always be a good example for other cyclists

Our route proposals:

Some easy routes from S.Vigilio:
- to the picturesque Creta Lake and back
- on a unstrenuous asphalt road to Pederü
- round tour through the Plan Pecei fields to the Creta Lake
- to the residential area of Val and accross the fields in Ras
- to the place of pilgrimage Pieve di Marebbe

Some routes of medium difficulty from S.Vigilio:
- to the pastures of Roterins and to the biotope of Rit
- to Piccolino and Longeva via the residential area of Gran Giogo
- to the Furcia Pass via Rifugio La Miara hut
- to the birthplaces of ladin musicians and poets and to Brach Castle
- to the place of pilgrimage of Sares via Ciaseles and Pfaffenberg

Some difficult routes from S.Vigilio:
- cross Giogo and continue to the place of pilgrimage Santa Croce, this is a very difficult route
- to the karst area of the Rifugio Biella hut and from here an intoxicating downhill route
- towards Gran Fanes via Lago di Limo Lake and then steeply downhill to the Rifugio Senes hut
- to Gran Fanes and accross a beautiful plateau towards San Cassiano
- to Giogo M.Croce and to Lago dei Colli Alti/Fojedöra by foot - steep up- and downhill route
